Yul Tomatala

Yul Tomatala is a visual artist, trained in photography at ECAL and a graduate of the Workmaster program at HEAD. He expands his practice of photography and video by creating installations where he explores our relationship with the built environment as it structures western social dynamics. Questioning the links between modernity, architecture, and the violence they produce, he also focuses on how these forces influence our personal and collective memories. Drawing inspiration from the world of conceptual artists and photographers, his installations explore the tension between reality and abstraction. A recipient of the 2024 FCAC Bourses déliées, he has already presented his work in galleries and art spaces like Wall Street in Fribourg and Les Urbaines. He is currently preparing a solo exhibition at Salle Crosnier. Yul also contributes to the management and programming of Espace 3353 with his collective as slow as possible.
