Isam // Isabela del Carmen Abad Montalvo

Isam//Isabela del Carmen Abad Montalvo is a performer and dancer from Quito, nestled in the heart of the Andes. After an initial training as a dancer in Ecuador, he moved to Hamburg and later Lausanne, where he joined the Bachelor’s program in Contemporary Dance at La Manufacture. His personal practice blends physical work, poetry, singing, and DJing, all with a decolonial and queer perspective. He is currently continuing research on reggaeton, transmasc sensuality, and Ecuadorian folklore in non-frontal settings. Whether in a group or solo, Isam questions traditional ways of relating to others and reinvents forms of expression freed from social conventions. With Collectif Col, he explores the alteration of movement through sound devices, notably in FFFFFFFFFFFF. With the Coeurllective, he focuses on creating imaginative worlds for young audiences, with their first piece 0-6y/o. As a solo artist, he has presented La Impostora at the Lila Queer Festival in Zurich, Cheers to Shedding at Nos gusta la mala vida in TU, and soon PERREO DEL RENACIMIENTO at the Fessestival in Geneva and at Les Urbaines in Lausanne.
